Hi Folks,
I just did my first Introduction Leaders Program weekend and it was extraordinary.
I'd like to get complete on the "ILP" thread that's been something of a saga about my journey to this day. I want you all to know that I REALLY appreciate all of the sharing that you posted and I value every word. It's clear you put in a lot of time and thought on your postings. I considered all of that knowledge and decided that I've gotten great things from every Landmark program I've completed and from this weekend I'm clear that I will have some huge breakthroughs in this program by playing a bigger game.
One specific thing I want to get complete on are the issues of "pressure" and "numbers". We spent a lot of time on these during the weekend and there's no doubt in my mind that the leaders of my program are most focused on creating enrollment and complete customer satisfaction and that there be no pressure in Landmark programs. That's where I'm going to stand during the program.
One of the agreements of my program is that I not support/endorse any non-Landmark venues like courses, businesses and WEBSITES. So, to be in integrity with that agreement, I'm passing the baton to Tex. He has agreed to take over being the moderator of this tribe. I'll still check in from time to time to see what you guys are up to, but I won't be posting.
Thanks.
Joe

Re: Introduction Leaders Program and Passing the Baton
Thu, September 14, 2006 - 10:50 AMHi Joe,
I do not believe the ILP agreement includes social networking sites like Tribe, Friendster and Myspace. The agreement is more pertinent to other transformational technologies, such as NLP, Lifespring, etc. I don' t know if you're still on Tribe but I hope you see this.

Thu, September 14, 2006 - 9:45 PMHi Med,
It's nice to hear from you. I've already passed the moderator job to Tex because that definitely conflicts with my agreement. The folks leading my program are checking to see if participating in a landmarky online community is appropriate for the agreement (the wording is a little gray). Even if they say posting is inappropriate, I'll check in from time to time and send private messages. I like you guys and I want to stay in touch.

Re: Introduction Leaders Program and Passing the Baton
Sun, September 17, 2006 - 8:24 PMG'day Joe,
Wanna hear from you on your ILP journey.
I pulled out of the Sept. program. I managed to injure myself rather thoroughly in one knee (already have severed both ACLs in both knees, skiing) whilst learning to jump on a trampoline at Burning Man. Was up on the mat for about 1 minute.....sheeesh....and ended up one legged. Still hobbling; thankfully the swelling is melting away.
I did find a wondrous person in Gerlach who agreed to allow me into her home on the Thursday night of Burning Man so I could attend my 2 1/2 SELP class in San Diego, by phone. There are angels out there.
Planning to begin the next ILP in Feb.
Enjoy the journey. Aloooooha.... -

Re: Introduction Leaders Program and Passing the Baton
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 10:38 AMThanx Tex,
I am on the mend. I do believe it was a blessing in disguise. Landed me fast, to a complete stop. Am always up there zooming around with the eagles. Has given me a chance to reflect on where I am going, spend some time pampering myself, and getting totally unpacked from a move I made months ago......
There is always a silver cord to yank on behind each dark cloud, which, if I am present, will shower me with loads of "gifts".
Already put my name down as a greeter for BM 2007.
She lives, a tad limpy still, yet rearing to go.
sumbeams and laughter at ya.....

Re: Introduction Leaders Program and Passing the Baton
Mon, September 18, 2006 - 10:15 PMHi Joe,
In my GSLP the same approach was taken regarding enrollment.
There still is no way to lead seminars without producing numbers, so the pressure to produce results inevitably will be felt, depending on what is motivating the "enroller."
I was interested in sharing something I found very valuable to me first, if the numbers came then great. I had 3 weeks of stats, needing only 1 more week to get the required 4. I did not get the 4th, so I had to start over. Without working the phones and guest rooms for hours a week, it is very difficult to meet these stats.
So yes, we were coached 25 years ago to not pressure guests, to honor ansers of no, and to make sure the customer was satisfied.
But when results are measured by numbers, not contextually created "space," what often happens is that guest and Intro Leader wannabes are under pressure.
I do trust that you will handle all of this well. You seem to have a good perspective about it and what you want to get from the experience.
Good luck, give me an occassional update.
Cheers!!
